Life OS privacy policy

Last updated 15 September 2026. This policy covers the Life OS Android app (com.khanjankavani.lifeos). The website privacy policy is separate and covers khanjankavani.com.

The short version

Life OS does not collect your data. There is no account to create, no server to sync to, and no analytics. Everything you put into the app stays in the app's own storage on your phone. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.

Who is responsible

Life OS is made and published by Khanjan Kavani, an individual based in Surat, Gujarat, India. For anything in this policy, write to hello@khanjankavani.com.

What data the app collects

None. Life OS does not collect, transmit or share any personal or usage data.

It contains no analytics or crash-reporting service. There is no Firebase, no Crashlytics, no Google Analytics, no Sentry, and no advertising network of any kind. Nothing measures what you do in the app, because nothing in the app is listening.

What you put in, and where it goes

Your tasks, notes, journal entries, transactions, budgets, reminders, calendar events, habits, goals, voice notes and scanned documents are written to a database inside the app's private storage on your device.

Items you place in the Vault are encrypted, with the key held in the Android Keystore. The Vault screen also blocks screenshots and screen recording.

No copy of any of this is sent anywhere. There is no cloud backup and no sync. Android's own cloud backup is switched off for this app.

The one thing the app downloads

Life OS makes exactly one outbound network request, and only if you choose to enable the assistant. It downloads the assistant's model file from huggingface.co.

That request is a plain download. It sends nothing except the name of the file being fetched and, if a download is resumed, how much of it you already have. No content from the app, no identifier and no usage information is attached to it.

This is the only reason the app asks for internet permission.

Things that happen on the device and nowhere else

The assistant. Questions you ask are answered by a model running on your phone. What you type and what it reads from your records never leaves the device.

Document text recognition. When you scan a document or a receipt, the text is read on the device.

Voice input. Speech is transcribed using your phone's offline recogniser only. Life OS requires on-device recognition and will refuse to listen rather than fall back to sending audio to a server. If your phone has no offline speech pack installed, voice input will tell you so instead of quietly switching to the online version.

Fingerprint and face unlock. Handled by Android. The app is told whether the check passed. It never receives your fingerprint or face data.

Permissions, and why each one exists

  • Internet and network state. Downloading the assistant's model file. Nothing else.
  • Microphone. Recording voice notes and voice commands.
  • Storage. Saving scanned documents and exporting your data to PDF or Excel.
  • Notifications, exact alarms, full-screen intent, vibrate, wake lock, run at startup. Making reminders and alarms fire at the time you set, including after the phone restarts.
  • Foreground service and media playback. Keeping an alarm ringing while the screen is locked.

Buying Life OS Pro

Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment and holds the payment details. The app is only told whether the purchase succeeded, and stores the receipt identifier Google returns so your purchase can be restored on a reinstall or a new phone.

Life OS never sees or stores your card, UPI or bank details.

See the refund policy for how to get your money back.

Children

Life OS is a general-purpose organiser and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, at any age, because it does not collect information at all.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling Life OS removes the app's storage and everything in it. There is no copy held anywhere else, so there is nothing to request deletion of and no one to request it from.

The trade-off is worth stating plainly: because there is no server holding a copy, losing your phone without a backup means losing the data. Export to PDF or Excel whenever you want a copy you control.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app changes what it does with your data, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. A change that introduced any collection would be announced in the app, not slipped into this page.
