Task board
One screen showing what everybody is working on. Drag a card between columns and the whole team sees it, which removes the sentence 'I thought you were doing that' from your week.
To do0
In progress0
Done0
Drag the cards between columns. On a phone, tap a card to move it forward.
This is a real working demo with sample data. Changes are not saved, so refresh to reset it.
The problem it solves
Work in a small business usually lives in three places at once: a WhatsApp group, somebody's notebook, and the memory of whoever is most conscientious. Nothing is lost exactly, but nothing is visible either.
The specific failures are always the same. Two people do the same job. A commitment made in a group chat scrolls away and nobody follows up. And when someone is on leave, nobody can say with confidence what they were in the middle of.
What the demo shows
Three columns and cards you can drag. Add a task and it lands in To do. Move it as it progresses. The count on each column updates, so at a glance you can see whether four things are genuinely in progress or fourteen.
On a phone, tapping a card moves it to the next column, because dragging on touch screens is worse than everyone pretends.
This is deliberately simple. Most task tools fail in small businesses not because they lack features but because they have too many. If adding a task takes more than five seconds, people stop adding tasks, and a board that is not current is worse than no board at all.
What a real build adds
- Real accounts and permissions, so people see what is relevant to them and managers see everything.
- Due dates with sensible reminders, not a notification for every change.
- Comments and file attachments on cards, which is where the WhatsApp discussion should have been living.
- Columns that match your actual process. Most businesses have more than three stages, and the useful board uses your names for them, not generic ones.
- Recurring tasks, for the things that happen every week and get forgotten anyway.
- A simple report on what was completed in a period, useful for reviews and for spotting where work is genuinely stuck.
- Connection to your other tools, so a paid invoice or a new order can create a task automatically.
Where the value is
Not in the board itself. It is in what stops happening. Duplicated work stops. The follow up conversation about what was agreed stops, because it is written down. And handover during leave becomes a matter of looking at a screen rather than a phone call.
One honest caveat. A task board only works if people use it, and that is a habit question more than a software question. The tools that succeed are the ones where adding a task is faster than typing it into WhatsApp. That is why the form in this demo has two fields and not eight.
